Why in the world did a plumbing company start an account on Twitter?
There’s a couple of reasons. First, it’s yet another communication stream with our customers. In this era, the phone isn’t enough – email and other streams of online communication are starting become a must!
Secondly, our customers can keep up with us passively. It’s an interesting phenomena, in no way restricted just to Twitter, that customers have started to become attached to the businesses and service providers they deal with. Some businesses become more than just a nameless entity – they become aquantences, and sometimes even friends. Twitter is a great way for us to allow for that sort of relationship with our customers.
Third we’ve got some plans for some very Web 2.0 features behind the Plumb Crazy website. No really! We’ve got some things in mind that, as far as we know, no other plumbing company is really doing online at the moment. This is stuff that makes us a bit more valuable to customers – but we’re not quite ready yet, so we’re not going to reveal The Plan.
Ok, and finally, one of the owners is a Twitter maniac.
